Perfecting Your Strut

loub

Walking into June I feel refreshed, hydrated, and unstoppable. All of the stress of the colder months are gone. Classes are over and I can finally be free. But most importantly, I have the opportunity to bring to life all the amazing outfits I’ve been dreaming about all winter. But how can we walk into this lovely warm weather in a bad shoe? Or even worst, in a great shoe but a bad runway walk. Either way its impossible to make your ex jealous if you’re stumbling all over the place. So here are some tips on creating your signature walk in a signature shoe:

  • Walk Heel to Toe: I can’t stress this enough! There’s no better way to look ridiculous in heels then to walk planting your feet directly on the ground. It’s just absurd and women should get tickets for it. I’m just saying.
  • Work Your Way Up: Don’t start off with a six inch heel and think that you’re going to look like Naomi Campbell. Start off with a wedge, then gradually work your way up to actual heels. Start off with a smaller heel until you’re confident enough to take on Sasha Fierce(a six inch pump).
  • Practice, Practice, & More Practice: Walk around your house in your heels. Not only are you breaking them in, you’re becoming more comfortable in them and developing a strut that works for you. The only way you’re going to get better in walking in heels is if you actually walk in them. Duh! You can even clean in them while you’re around your home. Think of it as killing three birds with one stone. You’ll be cleaning, toning your legs, and practicing your walk.
  • Perfect Fit: Make sure your shoe fits. This is pretty self explanatory. You’ll be saving yourself a lot of discomfort and awkwardness by simply doing the obvious.
  • Smaller Steps: Take smaller steps to get to your destination. It just makes the process smoother and also take your time. There’s no need to rush greatness. The world can wait.
  • Confidence: Heels were created to make a woman feel powerful. You should feel that power in every step. Let your hips move freely and don’t try to control them. Trying to control your hips will only make you look like an amateur and we can’t have that.

Well ladies and gents that pretty much sums up all the tricks I’ve got in my bag. If you guys have any tricks up your sleeve that could potentially help a wobbly friend out, feel free to comment below or even tag someone who needs a quick Sasha Fierce lesson. I hope this post was helpful to you. If you haven’t already, follow my Instagram account to stay up to date on all the latest fashion tips and tricks. I promise I won’t disappoint.
